Culture of China

While “colourful” may sound a bit cliché, it is the best adjective to exemplify the sights, sounds and scents of China. There is never a dull moment as the whole country is abuzz with constant activity. Standing on a street corner, you can witness the juxtaposition within a Chinese city—where new meets old, urban industrialism meets traditional rural lands, children play with their elderly grandparents and locals and foreigners mix within the crowds.

China is rich with history and is quickly moving towards the modernization of all its cities. It is common to find a traditional water town or preserved pedestrian-only streets in the heart of an urban jungle. It’s easy to find a favourite spot in any Chinese city. But to understand the city or country as a whole, one has to experience it for themselves. China is a country that doesn’t stop, where family, food, fun, and fortune are the driving forces that keep China moving forward.

Students

Most students are Chinese Nationals and have studied English as a Second Language from their Primary or Middle years. Many enter the BC program in Grade 10 and must pass an English examination to enrol.

Some students supplement their English education with private lessons and enrolment in IELTS and TOEFL programs.

Chinese students predominantly come from supportive families who value education. They tend to be well behaved, hardworking, engaged in school life, and interested in North American culture. Students are academically focused and aspire to attend a Canadian University after graduation.
