Our Vision, Mission & Values

The primary role of any school is to provide a solid education that will form a foundation of knowledge for lifelong learning. As a Christian school, Highroad Academy believes that education centers around three main components:

1. A Biblical Foundation for Christian Education: The Bible serves as the basis for our educational endeavour, offers a solid foundation for our learning environment, and provides guidance for the spiritual development of our students. Throughout the educational process, we seek to integrate the two forms of revelation—the Word of God and his creation—and weave them into a meaningful and life-changing whole.

2. An Educational Partnership: The home, church, and school should support and encourage one another as partners in Christian education. While the school focuses on education, we also complement and share in the responsibility of Christian parents to cultivate and develop a love for and knowledge of God and his world in each of our students.
3. A Nurturing Atmosphere: The goal for interpersonal relationships at Highroad is a genuine concern for others that imitates the love that Christ has shown to us. Because each student is created in the image of God, children are taught the dignity and value of each individual while recognizing the overall importance of being united in Christ as a whole school community.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY

A significant part of our identity is about reaching out. Through high school missions trips, over 175 students have had an opportunity to bring change and be changed in places like Brazil, Guatemala, Thailand, and Africa, and every week, our students are involved in serving the community through our partnership with groups like the Salvation Army, local elementary schools, and community services.

OUR UNIQUE PROGRAMS

Our Highroad Garden provides agricultural opportunities for our students, as well as supplying our students and local food banks with fresh produce. Through our career exploration partnerships, our students gain work experience in all types of occupations and trades, giving them a chance to better prepare for life beyond high school and allowing them to build connections with local businesses. Our international student program brings both short-term and long-term placements where students have come from all over Asia, as well as South America and Europe. These students have added diversity and cultural insights to our community.

Chilliwack General Hospital (CGH) has served Chilliwack’s community since 1912. CGH today is a sophisticated, fully functional hospital that offers exceptional healthcare services to our community.

The University of the Fraser Valley is a fully accredited, public university that enrolls approximately 15,000 students per year. UFV has campuses and locations in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, Hope and Agassiz, and a growing presence in Chandigarh, India. UFV offers more than 100 programs, including two master’s degrees, 15 bachelor’s degrees, majors, minors, and extended minors in more than 30 subject areas, and 15 trades and technology programs.

The Canada Education Park is a multi-agency educational partnership that brings together some of the nation’s most respected education, training and research facilities and partners including the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Pacific Region Training Centre (RCMP PRTC), the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the City of Chilliwack, Canada Lands Company and the Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation.
