How would you feel if you couldn't communicate your thoughts, feelings, ideas, or simply talk? Communication is essential to learning, and it can also affect a child's social and emotional well-being.

When teachers or parents identify a communication issue with students, that's when Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) step in! SLPs prevent, assess, diagnose, treat, and support students in overcoming these challenges whether it be stuttering, swallowing disorders, hyperlexia, or hearing loss.

In the education system, Speech-Language Pathologist form relationships with the students, teachers, and parents to establish a diagnosis as well as create and implement communications plans. In this rewarding role, SLPs are instrumental in the growth of the students. And over time, SLPs get to see their hard work come to fruition by witnessing students progress and flourish over time. Since SLPs generally work at the district-level, SLPs also get a chance to be a part of and connect with the communities of various schools within the district!
