District Overview
Our board of education is committed to providing high-quality leadership and personnel to provide students with equal opportunities for career choices and to assist them in developing social responsibility and acquiring the skills necessary for lifelong learning.
Regional Diversity
Our district is large geographically with two fly-in communities (Oweekeno and Shearwater) and three communities in the beautiful Bella Coola Valley. The culture is diverse and rich in artistic development. The climate is mild with warm and sunny summers and quick access to heli-skiing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in the winter.
Specialty Programs
We support many fine arts programs (such as traditional fine arts, carving, graphic art, music and band), as well as programs in outdoor education, continuing and adult education, offsite learning and First Nations language and culture.
We provide a very comprehensive professional development package to all professional staff. We have a master artist in residence who provides instruction in wood carving, jewelry and metalwork.
Draw for Employees
We are rich in language, cultural and artistic programs that are supported by our communities.
